It is one of the most well-known Hindu temples devoted to the Hindu Goddess Sita. Locals refer to it as Nau Lakha Mandir because the temple's construction cost nine lakhs of rupees. The temple was established in 1911 AD by Queen Vrisha Bhanu of Tikamgarh, India. It is built in a fusion of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles. It is a three-story building constructed completely of stone and marble. There are 60 rooms with exquisite lattice windows and turrets, as well as the Nepalese flag, colored glass, engravings, and Mithila paintings. A golden statue of the Goddess Sita was discovered in 1657, and Sita is claimed to have resided there. During her engagement, Janaki or Sita chose Lord Rama as her husband.

Their wedding took place at the Vivaha Mandap temple, which is located nearby. Pilgrims and travelers from all over the world go to this sacred Hindu temple during the Vivah Panchami festival in November and December. It is the city's annual event commemorating Sita and Rama's marriage with several spiritual rites and rituals. The temple is decked with special arts, lights, and bhajans are sung every day during the festival. Around the temple grounds, we can sense the joy as well as the spiritual environment.

This location is a highly respected and hallowed pilgrimage site as well as a significant Hindu religious site, attracting thousands of visitors each year from all over the country and the world. However, during prominent Hindu festivals such as Tihar, Dasai, and Ram Nawami, to name a few, the temple sees a significant increase in footfall.
